Valentine Hallard is originally from France and currently lives in Philadelphia. She joined Start Early as a research assistant in 2022. She primarily works with the National Center on Parent Family and Community Engagement as well as internal and external partners. In her role, Valentine supports several research and evaluation projects and engages in a variety of evaluation analysis that have a strong potential for improving family and child outcomes. This includes conducting comprehensive literature reviews, designing surveys, participating in data collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination.
Prior to joining the Research and Evaluation division, Valentine worked in several non-profit organizations where she investigated a wide array of human rights and social justice issues. Her research focuses on a variety of topics including early childhood and education, children and women rights, gender and sexuality, with particular attention to social context and human experiences.
Valentine is a graduate of the University of Chicago, where she completed a Master of Science in social sciences. She also holds a Master of Arts in cultural anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in political and social sciences. Alongside her work at Start Early, Valentine volunteers at the Human Rights Research Center where she writes articles to raise awareness on human rights abuses. When not working, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and mountaineering.
