Director, Start Early Consulting

Mina Hong is a Director on the Start Early Consulting Team, providing policy and advocacy consultation to states to strengthen high-quality, equitable early childhood programs. Previously, Mina was a Senior Policy Associate at Michigan’s Children, a policy advocacy organization focused on children’s issues, where she played a key role in state budget and policy wins for families with young children. Mina also has experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at Start Early, the University of Michigan Division of Student Life, and at New Detroit, Inc. – a racial justice organization. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. As a consultant, Mina can provide support on a variety of issues including IDEA policy, child care subsidy, and policy advocacy strategy including coalition work.

Mina holds a master’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan. Mina lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her partner, their three children, and two cats.
