Sara Bey is a research assistant with the Research and Evaluation team, working directly with children and teachers at Educare Chicago. Sara collaborates with both Early Head Start and Head Start programs, administering one-on-one assessments to evaluate children’s early learning and school readiness skills. For Early Head Start, Sara screens children for early math, literacy, and vocabulary skills using tools like the Preschool Language Scale, Fifth Edition. For pre-K children, Sara conducts assessments such as the Bracken School Readiness Assessment and STEP to ensure they are well-prepared for kindergarten.
Beyond her work at Educare, Sara also brings her passion for supporting children into hospital settings. Sara is a dedicated volunteer with Lurie Children’s Hospital, working with hematology and oncology patients, and she completed a pediatric healthcare practicum in Cape Town, South Africa, in January 2024.
Originally from Oak Park, Illinois, Sara earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Science in family science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
