Regine Cherry is a Black woman who was born in New York but was raised in Michigan. When she was pregnant, she was not ready and had been preparing to travel. She struggled with personal issues and was later told by her son’s father that she would be having their child alone. She was crushed but found a deeper reason to keep going because of her son. Regine is a parent leader currently in the Michigan Home Visiting Parent Leadership group who has found incredible strength and opportunity to help others through her parenting journey. Her passion for this work has been easy to spot, which is what led her to be recommended for opportunities within her local community home visiting system and linked her into the state level group too. Regine was recently recognized for her voice and has been invited to a national Home Visiting Network with two other parents to inform systems change.
