Emily Powers is a Manager on the Start Early Consulting Team, providing consultation to government leaders and advocates leading system change and strategic planning efforts with experience at the state, community, and school district level. She has worked as a Child Find Coordinator for D.C. Public Schools, where she helped launch a public awareness campaign on developmental delays and early intervention and led trainings on developmental screening best practice. Emily attended Northwestern University School of Law, where she was a special education extern for Equip for Equality and worked with the IL Attorney General’s Office. After law school, Emily spent four years in Altgeld-Riverdale on the far South Side of Chicago, where she helped launch a PreK-Kindergarten Transitions program and co-designed a pilot with teachers to implement trauma-informed classroom practices.
A native of Las Vegas, Emily graduated from UNLV. Emily currently lives in Chicago with her partner, Dan, her son, Harrison, and their dogs Clemmy and Chichi.
